Wasabi Green Beans
I made this recipe up. By myself. Aren't you proud of me? This side dish goes good with things like tuna or anything with a decidedly Asian taste. Green beans have a simple taste and wasabi can be really refreshing with the beans.
12 - 16 ounces of fresh Green Beans, ends trimmed (or a shitload more, if you plan on feeding an army)
Wasabi (you can get this at most grocery stores now, there is a powdered form or a tube form, its up to you, but prepare it according to directions if it is dehydrated)
Salt and Pepper
Prepare a large pot of salted boiling water. Once that pot is boiling, toss in your trimmed beans and let them cook for like four or five minutes. Put them into a bowl of ice water to shock them from cooking any further, and drain and dry them.
Start up a clean saucepan and melt some butter on medium-high heat. Here's the tricky part. If you don't add enough wasabi, it won't taste very flavorful. If you add too much, you'll be crying at the dinner table holding your nose and praying for God to end your life right there. Seriously. Wasabi can be some hellish shit so be careful, goddammit. Taste a few as you go along.
Toss and coat the beans in the wasabi butter mixture till they are nice and hot, and salt and pepper to taste. Serve the beans while they're hot.
