Braille in Sand
I’ve taken pills and chased you down
deserted hallways
Through bottlenecks of bourbon;
I looked for you while packed tightly into crowded
Dance floors sagging with empty eyes.
I've woken up wounded from
Battles with sweet rest.
Somehow I’m still left here wondering
where you are
where you’ve been
I look inwards.
Deciphering the waves that roll in me is like
Trying to understand light scattered in
water
I read your touch like Braille in sand
Swept up from under the bed
It’s when I close my eyes hovering between
shadows and sleep
That I think I hear you talking to me in the
same tongues
murmured to children
by their mothers
